In an article with Military.com, Terrence Howard discussed the research and attention he committed to his role in Iron Man. Part of the information he revealed beyond his research methods were some small details about the sequel.
Howard says that the sequel will begin filming in April 2009 (with an expected release date of April 30, 2010). We know that Robert Downey, Gweneth Paltrow and Jon Favreau are all returning, and add in the hint the Howard gave in a previous interview that we may be seeing War Machine, the sequel is shaping up quite nicely.
