Ryan Reynolds controls Deadpool

If you're anything like me then X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a distant memory at this point. Despite the film's release a little over six weeks ago, the quatliy of the overall finished product was a little...lacking. Don't get me wrong, I was quite entertained, and I though the film had a few bright spots. However one of the film's biggest bright spots became a sore spot by the end. If you saw the movie (which I'm sure you did) then you know that I'm talkin about Deadpool. The problem wasn't Ryan Reynolds. In fact, his performance as Wade Wilson was the highlight of the first 20 minutes of the movie or so. No, it was the brilliant idea to give him a sewn mouth, retractable katanas and optic blasts at the end of the movie. Pretty much spitting in the face of Deadpool fans the world over. Reynolds wants a second chance with the character, and in an interview with MTV Splash Page he talks about how he's going to make sure he does the Merc with the Mouth proud. “I get to be the authentication police, in a weird way,” grinned Reynolds. “To their credit — the studio’s credit — they want to make an authentic ‘Deadpool’ movie; they want to make it as close to the source material as possible.” Nice. Reynolds also goes on to say that he and the studio are looking for a director and writer(s) for the film. Regardless of who they settle on, the film will strive for authenticity. “He’s going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [we’re going to give] all those answers that everyone wants,” Reynolds explained. “He’s going to have the scarred-up face, he’s going to be in the suit — and, it’s going to be incredible.” Whoever they bring in I really hope they get Rob Liefield involved in some capacity. I mean, he did create the character afterall. It's refreshing that Reynolds is really a fan of the character and is committed to keeping it true to the source material. I'm sure there will be at least one scene where Reynolds turns to the audience and mutters something comical. Ryan Reynolds controls Deadpool
