Spider-Man 4 villain update

I have zero interest in seeing The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (nor do I care for the gratuitous references to said movie during the NBA Finals). Zero. But, I do care about the producer of the movie, Todd Black. Why do I care about a producer of a movie that I don't want to see? Simple. Black is also a producer for Spider-Man 4. In a recent interview with the New York Daily Post about the former movie (The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3) Black had a few things to say about Kirsten Dunst's involvement and the villain for the fourth film. First, Dunst is definitely on board he said. That being said however, there are currently no inclinations to include a wedding between Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson in the film (at least that Black is aware of). So now what about this "villain" I speak of. Black said that the villain is most definitely not Morbius. Vampires are all the rage these days (random sidenote...I highly recommend checking out HBO's True Blood if you get a chance), but apparently not a good fit for the fourth Spidey film. The villain will be one from the comics however, and not a special villain created just for the sake of the movie. But even Black says that the villain isn't quite concrete just yet. "We're just coming up with who the villain's going to be now. We'll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it'll be a big part of New York." Interesting. The "big part of New York" part has the NY Daily Post thinking Kingpin. It makes sense, not just because of the "big" aspect, but because Kingpin pretty much is New York. I mean, he's the freaking crime boss that runs the entire city, so it's inevitable that Spidey would run into him sooner or later. Problem is, he's already been in the Daredevil movie and the rights could still be tied up with Fox. Beyond that though, the fights really may not be the best. I mean, Spider-Man is more of a thinking man's character, but you also want to see a character like him kick some ass. Sure, Kingpin could throw a ton of goons at Spider-Man and he just wrecks shop, but I worry that the pivotal climax fight scene where the two of them face off would be pretty, well, anti-climatic. I mean, this is of course all hearsay and conjecture at this point, so take his words for what they are. Personally, I'm still lobbying hard for Carnage and the return of Venom, but that really seems to be just a pipe dream at this point. The seeds have been planted for the inevitable Dr. Connors turn into the Lizard, but I don't really see him being a big part of New York. Mysterio is another option, and having Bruce Campbell play the fish bowl headed mysterioso would be pretty freaking awesome. What if it's not a traditional villain though, and is instead a hero that could be a villain? I mean, I know the rights to Punisher and Hulk are tied up in other studios, but how awesome would it be to see Spider-Man square off against one of those? Spider-Man 4 villain update
