Max Brooks joining the Joes

IDW definitely had a big showing at Comic-Con, and one of the biggest pieces of news to come from the publisher was the announcement of a NY Times bestselling author joining their ranks. Max Brooks is coming on to do a G.I. Joe miniseries. Zombie survivalists probably perked their ears up at the name Max Brooks. But for those of you who haven't fully prepared for the apocalypse, Brooks is the author of World War Z and Zombie Survival Guide. So who knows if he'll be writing a zombie-infested Joe arc as is all the rage among comic book creators these days. The five-issue miniseries is due in 2010 and is the first G.I. Joe comic for Brooks. And IDW couldn't be more excited. “Both Chris Ryall (IDW Editor-in-chief) and I read World War Z and we knew we had to try to get Max to write something for us. What we didn’t know is that Max is a huge G.I. JOE fan and had expressed interest in writhing G.I. JOE to (COBRA writer) Christos Gage,” said Andy Schmidt, IDW’s G.I. JOE editor. “Synchronicity ensued and G.I. JOE has never looked or read so well! We’re very pleased to add Max’s vision to the G.I. JOE canon.” Keep it here for more information as it becomes available, and check out the full press release below. Max Brooks Joins IDW for G.I.
