28 Days Later in comics

28 Days Later scared the crap out of me. It wasn't the rage or the abusive military. No, it scared me because it was the first modern adaptation of zombies that I can recall where the zombies could run. Not just run...they freaking sprinted. Gone were the strategies of outrunning a trotting zombie or simply stepping out of their reach. Next week it looks like we all may be screwed though with the end nigh. Boom! Studios has a new comic in their future called 28 Days Later #1. Not much for originality here, but hey, the title tells you what you need to know. The first issue is due August 26 and will be $3.99. The first arc will be based on the movie mythos and focus on Selena. It will bridge the gap between 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, an admittedly wide gap that was loosely filled in. We never find out what happens to Selena though, and this series aims to show just that. Michael Alan Nelson is writing it with art by Declan Shalvey. The first issue will feature three covers by Tim Bradstreet, Sean Phillips and Brett Weldele in a 50/25/25 split. AND there will also be a Cover D Incentive by DNA Films. Full press release below after some juicy interiors from the first issue. 28 DAYS LATER #1 RELEASE DATE: AUGUST 26th "The End of the World Is Extremely Nigh!"
