Solicitation sounds like such a dirty word. It can be, except not in the case of Top Cow and their solicitations for January 2010. One of which features The Darkness in Shadows and Flame.
The Darkness: Shadows and Flame One-Shot is by Rob Levin and features art by Jorge Lucas. Levin and Lucas take you back to the turn of the 20th century and the H.P. Lovecraft-ish vibe that the folks were living with. More specifically, Salvadore Gomes. Gomes has recently lost his wife and daughter in a fire and seeks solace. Out of desperation he makes a deal with "The Shadow God," presumably making him The Darkness of that time.
The book is expected to ship January 27 for $2.99 and is a one-shot. Don't expect to see Mr. Gomes taking over The Darkness mantle from Jackie Estacado with such little fanfare.
