Starmaker: Leviathan Launches at Comic-Con

Stan Bush told us we have to "dare to believe we can survive" as part of his rock ballad-ry. Bush's influence may have been felt across the pond as it were, as British writer Adam Hamdy decided to name his company Dare Comics. This is all relevant because Dare Comics is launching the first book of its new sci-fi epic Starmaker: Leviathan at Comic-Con.

The 116-page prestige edition super hyper-fighting paperback (super hyper-fighting is my adjectives) tells the story of Jacob Carter. Carter's parents died while he was young and if that wasn't bad enough he was kidnapped by their assistant Victor Kord, convinced that his parents were part of the global conspiracy known as Leviathan.

Writer and creator Hamdy is pretty psyched for its release, working alongside artist David Golding.

“I am very pleased to see Starmaker come to life, and what better place to introduce it to new fans than at San Diego Comic-Con. We’ve worked extremely hard to deliver a comic that is way out of the ordinary,” says Hamdy.

Full press release after the jump.

STARMAKER: LEVIATHAN LAUNCHES AT COMIC-CON

San Diego, California, 21 July 2010 – Today, Dare Comics launches the first book of its new science fiction epic, Starmaker: Leviathan at San Diego Comic-Con.

The 116 page prestige edition paperback tells the story of Jacob Carter, and his efforts to expose a mind-blowing global conspiracy.

Writer and creator, Adam Hamdy, cannot wait for fans to see his new work. “I am very pleased to see Starmaker come to life, and what better place to introduce it to new fans than at San Diego Comic-Con. We’ve worked extremely hard to deliver a comic that is way out of the ordinary,” says Hamdy.

Geek Syndicate recently reviewed Starmaker: Leviathan and gave Dare Comics a resounding thumbs up saying they “loved every page” and that it is a “great opening salvo of what promises to be a thrilling science fiction adventure.”

Ain’t It Cool News said, “I can’t wait to see how this intricately constructed story unfolds. All in all, a fantastic effort from Dare Comics.”

David Golding, the artist behind Dare Comics highly applauded first comic, The Hunter, has been brought over to Starmaker: Leviathan to inject his tremendous talent into the work.

“David’s art work was instrumental in making The Hunter’s story so popular with fans. He has developed a new realistic style for Starmaker that has taken the art to another level,” said Hamdy.

With comparisons already being drawn to some of Marvel Comics' best work, Dare is rapidly establishing a reputation for publishing quality comic books. With the ongoing success of The Hunter, there are high hopes for the publisher’s second release.
