Defense with the BoomStick

Back at a new Monday already. At least I think we are as keeping track of the calendar is becoming tougher and tougher. Came across other survivors that have no concept of how long it’s been since zombies first struck with these past months generally blurring together. Pretty tough at times to keep your sanity out here with the ever present threat of zombies always around, making you enjoy little periods of calm even more. Here we are though, still alive and still fighting to get back a slice of normal living, but first let's get to the news.

News is nada; at least that’s what I have heard from points around the world. There hasn’t been a whole lot of broadcasts or chatter at all this past week meaning that the news is probably all bad. Don’t want to rush judgment on this issue and I'm gonna have to wait and see if I get more reports in the coming week so keep holding out hope. Around my immediate area I have heard of a few reports of semi-large groups of zombies coming through, but it seems they are moving off and heading south. Other than those tidbits that’s all the news I have for today. I'm thinking next week there will be more.

For the tip today I'm going to discuss how to make a spear using metal that should be easy to come by as the tip.

Depending on your location in the world there are going to be street signs around you...these are great at bending and sharpening to fit your needs. You have to get the piece of metal down to a small workable piece (say the size of a shoe) and work on sharpening the edges best you can. To sharpen them use other piece of metal to rub it on and also using sharpened rocks can do the trick as well.

Tie the piece into place atop a spear using duct tape, twine, rope or any other material handy (just make sure it’s on there tight). Don’t want your spear falling apart in the middle of battle with a zombie at the wrong time. Try not to have the spear too jagged on the side either or else it could get stuck in the zombie's head. Really if you are fighting a zombie with your spear you are gonna want to trip it up to get around it or go for the stab in the brain through the eye.
