Zenescope Announces Dream Eater Saga

The teaser image has turned out to be more than just a tease (well, unless you count Zenescope characters as teases in general). Today the company officially announced their Grimm Fairy Tales Universe crossover in "The Dream Eater Saga." The twelve part event will cross over into several series, including Wonderland, Grimm Fairy Tales, Grimm Myths & Legends, The Piper, Inferno, Neverland, Sinbad and Salem's Daughter. Raven Gregory will handle the writing duties with story contributions by Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco.

"This is really a dream come true to be writing such a massive event like this,” said Gregory. "Crossovers come and go but we’re playing this one for keeps and not everyone is making it out alive."

The story will deal with the various heroes and villains of Zenescope's ever-growing Grimm Universe as they must choose to either run from or join forces and face off against an all powerful and extremely terrifying entity known simply as the Dream Eater. The prelude issue will be available for preorder in the February previews for $1.99. After that, the full saga begins April 2011.

"This event has been so much fun to create," said Zenescope Editor-in-Chief Ralph Tedesco. “Crossovers are something most fans are skeptical about but we feel we approached this the right way and have created such an awesome and shocking character in the Dream Eater. He's definitely going to steal the show."

It's hard to do a crossover and I'm curious how Zenescope pulls it off. To outside readers (not steeped in the Zenescope universe) the glut of titles and characters involved could be overwhelming. True, the same could be said of any universe spanning crossover. I just hope that the folks at Zenescope don't get too crazy with the cheese whiz and make things excessively confusing. Nobody likes a crossover where you're tripping over the plot trying to keep up.

Full press release after the jump.
