New Arrivals: February 9, 2011

This might be the first week this new year in Boston where we aren't going to get destroyed by a couple feet of snow. You could attribute the break to many things. Punxsatawney Phil not seeing his shadow maybe, general weather patterns that I'm not really in the know regarding. Stuff like that. Maybe it's even...wait for it...magic! Such as Charismagic #0 from Aspen Comics.

Written by Vince Hernandez and illustrated by Khary Randolph, Charismagic #0 features Hank Medley. Medley is a Las Vegas magician at the top of his game where everything he wants comes easy to him. Inevitably (as he's a protagonist) he's in line to face down what will turn out to be an intense magic invasion that will drag him into the midst whether he wants to be involved or not.

The zero issue is actually pretty good and worth checking out. The series looks like it has some promise and could be a fresh take on the magic genre.
