X-Men: First Class Trailer

Marvel has finally saw fit to release the trailer for X-Men: First Class, which oh by the way happens to open on June 3. The movie is going to have a very cool feel to it being in the 60s and everything. We get to see Beast becoming beastly, some Nightcrawler teleporting, White Queen diamondizing, Mystique shifting and Havoc kinetic beaming. It looks like the film will pretty much be about Professor X and Magneto really fracturing their friendship as a result of their opposing ideals.

My question is why does this movie seem like an afterthought to Marvel? A bigger deal is being made about Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger and rightfully so; they're big names and have the greater Avenger cause behind them. But why didn't this trailer air during the Super Bowl? And why is it getting virtually no fanfare? I get that, technically, this is the fourth X-Men film (fifth if you count X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but Marvel should remember that it was the X-Men and Spider-man films originally that started this whole superhero film craze. Just because they're far along in their film lifetimes doesn't mean they should get the brush aside.

Anyhoo, the trailer is after the jump.

  1. I didn't want to give this trailer any credit after that mess that was X3, but I have to admit I like the look of it. I'm not dropping my guard, but I'll probably see it.
I thought it was strange not seeing this trailer during the Super Bowl too.
