Zenescope Teams Up With Barnes & Noble For Exclusive

The Waking is out in all its trade paperback glory. Copies will be Barnes & Noble, but that alone may not be enough incentive to get you into the store to buy the book for $12.99. To that end, Zenescope is offering all customers who do walk into a B&N to get The Waking a free comic with an exclusive cover. Grimm Fairy Tales #58 will be available via completing a form and then sending it to Zenescope (through mail, email or fax).

This isn't the first time Zenescope has partnered with a company for a giveaway. Recently, they teamed with Spencer's Gifts in an effort to give out limited edition comics that ended up selling on eBay for upwards of $100.

"The Spencer's promotion was a way to push our books at a national retail chain while giving fans a chance to essentially grab a copy of a rare, limited edition prize they couldn't find anywhere else." said CEO Joe Brusha, "We know the Barnes & Noble Exclusive will have the same result. Fans can simply purchase a popular book of ours in THE WAKING and be rewarded with a very limited edition comic that will only increase in value."

Barnes & Noble is much more reputable retailer than Spencer's gifts, so I like where Zenescope is going with this. Then again, Spencer's probably features a demographic more in line with your average Zenescope reader so what do I know. Still though. A mail-in rebate form? Wouldn't it make more sense to just seal copies of The Waking and include a download code or credit to the Zenescope store to buy the comic? I can appreciate the cross-promotion but offering someone a random issue in your flagship series is a little weak (not to mention filling out the form and sending it). Think of the paperwork Zenescope!

ZENESCOPE PLANS TO RELEASE BARNES & NOBLE EXCLUSIVE COVER

Zenescope Entertainment has announced plans to release a Barnes & Noble promotion exclusively with the national retail chain. Starting February 15th and ending March 15th, 2011, any customer who purchases Zenescope's THE WAKING Trade Paperback ($12.99 MSRP) through any Barnes & Noble retail location can receive a free limited edition copy of Zenescope's Grimm Fairy Tales #58 comic book with an exclusive cover.

Zenescope has recently promoted other books with such giveaways through Spencer’s Gifts. The Spencer's promotion was so successful that the limited edition comics completely sold out and some buyers soon found their exclusive copies were selling for up to $100 and more on eBay.

Customers are encouraged to visit Zenescope’s website, download and fill out the Barnes & Noble Exclusive Form, then snail mail, e-mail or fax the form along with their receipt to Zenescope in order to take advantage of this free exclusive offer. Go to www.zenescope.com for more details.

Zenescope Entertainment was founded by Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco in 2005 and has quickly grown into one of the top comic book and graphic novel publishing companies in the world. Zenescope's Grimm Fairy Tales and subsequent spinoff series such as Escape From Wonderland, Neverland and The Piper, which put a dark twist on classic fables, are some of the best-selling and longest running original independent comic books on shelves today. Zenescope's licensed titles include the on-going, critically acclaimed Charmed series, based off of the long-running popular television series, as well as Se7en and Final Destination, based off of New Line Cinema's successful film franchises.
