Zombies vs. Robots Optioned for Film

When the apocalypse arrives there are a few scenarios we could be faced with. The Terminator movies has Skynet taking over and seeking to eradicate all humans from the planet. Stories such as The Walking Dead and the Dead series (Night, Day, Dawn, etc.) has us succumbing to a wave of zombies seeking to eat us. Obviously, the unification of the two enemies would be more than beyond evil and dangerous right? If there were only a way to pit them against each other. Wait! There is!

Zombies vs. Robots pits the last remaining human in the world against zombies. The catch is that he an assortment of robots at his disposal to protect him, giving us the newfound war between machine and falling flesh. The robots mistakenly expose a human infant's presence to the zombies, leading to the aforementioned all out battle. The series -created by Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood- has been acquired by Sony Pictures and will be a co-production among IDW, Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and Circle of Confusion. IDW CEO and co-founder Ted Adams will produce, alongside Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Dave Alpert and Rick Jacobs.

No word on production schedule or release date, but I guess I can just say stay tuned. Full press release after the jump.

In the ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS comic series, the last remaining human in the world is protected by an assortment of robots against overwhelming zombie hordes. When the robots mistakenly expose the human infant's presence to the zombies, it leads to an all-out battle for the survival of mankind. The series takes a playful look at a far-fetched concept, resulting in something that transcends the usual "vs" approach. Subsequent series include Zombies vs Robots vs Amazons, also illustrated by Wood, as well as Zombies vs Robots: Aventure, a series that presented three separate prequel stories. The ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS world also played a major role in IDW's first-ever event series, INFESTATION, and an all-new ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS series subtitled "UnderCity," with art by Mark Torres, launches in April.
