Zenescope Announces Fly

Raven Gregory has something he'd like you to check out. That something? His new comic Fly. He's joined by artists Rex Mundi and Eric J. in a story that posits an interesting question. What would happen if there were a designer drug that gave you the power of flight? As you can imagine you can do tons of good with it, but there are other, more nefarious types that will become addicted. Eddie is one of those people, a teen on the run from his past trying to stop his girlfriend from getting addicted before it kills them both.

“This is a very personal story for me” says writer/creator Raven Gregory. “Addiction is something that has affected my life in different ways for many years and writing this story was the perfect outlet for my battle against the disease. I’m so proud of this story and I’m thankful that Zenescope had the balls to publish it.”

Fly #1 will debut with a Kirkham cover available to retailers who order 20 copies of one of the other three covers. Additionally, retailers who order 20 copies of cover A will get 5 additional copies for free. The book hits stores in June and you can check out Omnicomic's review of the first three issues here.

Full press release after the jump.

ZENESCOPE ANNOUNCES “FLY”

Zenescope Entertainment has announced plans to release a brand new ongoing comic book series entitled FLY. The upcoming series is written by Raven Gregory (The Waking, Return To Wonderland) with interior art by Rex Mundi co-creator and artist, Eric J.

The story follows three teenagers who gain access to a designer drug which gives them the power to fly. The drug seems too good to be true and eventually one of the teens starts to realize that it just might be. Now years later, Eddie is on the run from his past and he desperately needs to figure out a way to help his former girlfriend kick the habit before it kills them both. “This is a very personal story for me” says writer/creator Raven Gregory. “Addiction is something that has affected my life in different ways for many years and writing this story was the perfect outlet for my battle against the disease. I’m so proud of this story and I’m thankful that Zenescope had the balls to publish it.”

Early reviews of “Fly” have been nothing short of glowing. USA Today writer Brian Truitt called it “an insightful tale that delves into the consequences of addiction and observes what happens when superpowers aren’t all that super.”

Newsarama comic book reviewer, Jeff Marsick, called Fly "Edgy and twisted” he adds “It plumbs the dark depths of the human condition to create a deliciously terrifying tale that feels real. Raven Gregory, along with the mind-blowing pencils of Eric J, doesn't reset the superhero paradigm so much as kick it, mercilessly, off the ledge" And pop culture website, Ain’t It Cool News, encouraged readers to give the series a try by stating “One dose and you’ll be hooked.”

Zenescope is promoting issue #1 with the exclusive Kirkham cover available to retailers who order 20 copies of covers A, B or C. As an added bonus retailers who order 20 copies of cover A get 5 additional copies free. Fly #1 hits shelves in June and is currently available for order through Diamond Previews.
