IDW Announces Code Word: Geronimo Graphic Novel

I'd be lying if I said I was surprised. I mean, it was only a matter of time before someone capitalized on the SEAL Team Six mission now famed throughout the world. I guess I just didn't think it would be this soon. Regardless of your opinions of the assault, IDW Publishing has teamed up with Charlie Foxtrot Entertainment to publish Code Word: Geronimo, a new graphic novel illustrating the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound. Written by Captain Dale Dye (USMC, Ret.) and Dr. Julia Dye, the book offers a moment-by-moment inside story of the clandestine raid.

“Due to entirely appropriate security concerns, there is some creative license in our script,” said Captain Dye. “But I think readers will be gratified with the detail and thrilled with our take on one of the most daring and successful commando raids in American military history.”

Artists Gerry Kissell and Amin Amat join the team for illustrations while John M. Del Vecchio, a decorated Vietnam veteran, will provide afterword material. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a charity supporting military service members.

“I have worked for many years now with Charlie Foxtrot Entertainment on a number of successful projects,” said Tom Waltz, IDW editor, former Marine and Desert Storm I veteran. “But none of those compare to the excitement and pride I have for CODE WORD: GERONIMO. The Dyes have put together a fantastic script detailing the heroically dangerous raid by SEAL Team 6 against Public Enemy Number One, Osama Bin Laden, and I firmly believe you won’t get a more accurate account of this pivotal moment in history unless it is told by the SEAL team members themselves.”

The 88 page hardcover will set you back $15.99 when it hits stores September 6. Full press release after the jump.
