Defense With the BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally was a post of news and tip to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as half zombie among them.)

Well that didn’t go like planned. F me.

I'm currently holed up about five miles from that outpost I was aiming to attack from last week. Needless to say the attack didn’t go the way I planned.

Rounding up the zombies for the diversion and the explosives part went well. Leading them towards their gate and wall worked well. It’s when I also became the distraction to get the zombies close enough to blow a hole in their wall when the hitch occurred.

I don’t know how they knew I'd be hitting that outpost, but they must have spotted me doing recon and called in reinforcements. They had them waiting a mile away for me to start my attack and become fully committed before springing their own trap. I found myself down on the zombie pack flank about to set off the explosives when fire came out of the woods and tore through the pack. Their shots did hit some of the C4 on the zombies, but none of them were close enough to the wall to make a hole to let the rest in and the explosions only managed to take out other zombies.

For me I took some fire in my right arm as I was making my escape to get the hell out of there. If it wasn’t for the modified helmet I was wearing I don’t think I would have survived at all as they were taking a ton of head shots at me. I think there was at least four or five shots that actually bounced off the helmet making them some of the scariest moments I've had since becoming a half zombie hybrid.

For the past few days I've been holed up in this cave, repairing myself the best that I can by plugging these holes from the bullets and sewing them up since I don’t heal all too fast anymore. Being undead sucks and being an undead who can still think, talk, move quickly and fight is even fracking worse.

So far I've lucked out that none of those asshats have found me hiding out here. With some luck I will be able to stay here for a few more days before deciding my next plan of attack. They would never think to be prepared for me to attack the same place again, but that's why it will make the most sense to do it. The next time will have to be a lot more recon and stealth, with what I have in store for these guys I think things are going to go a lot different.

Time to rest. Need to regain what strength I can and get my new plan into motion and my broadcast next week will be one of victory.
