IDW Presents In the Shadow of Dracula

Dracula doesn't have a reflection. What's more, he probably doesn't have a shadow either, considering he spends most of his waking "life" in the moonlight, which isn't quite as effective as casting a shadow as the sun is. That won't stop IDW Publishing from releasing In The Shadow of Dracula, a new collection of vampire stories.

The tales included are carefully chosen, introduced and annotated by literary scholar, editor and author Leslie S. Klinger. Klinger is best known as the editor of New Annotated Sherlock Holmes as well as The New Annotated Dracula. The work will also feature illustrations by Michael Manomivibul

The assortment of authors in this collection include Sheridan Le Fanu, Aleksei Tolstoy, John Polidori, M.R. James, and Stoker himself amongst the many others to bring together the roots of the vampire genre.

In the Shadow of Dracula is in stores now and $16.99 will get you all 450 pages of the full-color action. Full press release after the jump.

A Collection of Vampire Stories Chosen by Literary Scholar and Author Leslie S. Klinger

San Diego, CA (October 10, 2011)— IDW Publishing is pleased to announce the launch of IN THE SHADOW OF DRACULA, a collection of expertly selected vampire prose stories. As popular and influential as Bram Stoker’s 1897 classic tale is, Dracula did not invent vampire fiction, nor was it alone in feeding the Gothic fantasies of the Victorian period. This anthology of tales from IDW either informed or benefited from Stoker’s hugely popular creation, and establishes the core cannon of classic vampire literature. IN THE SHADOW OF DRACULA will be available in comic and bookstores throughout North America tomorrow, October 11, 2011.

The eerie tales of the undead found in IN THE SHADOW OF DRACULA are carefully chosen, introduced and annotated by celebrated literary scholar, editor, and author, Leslie S. Klinger, best known as the editor of the award-winning New Annotated Sherlock Holmes as well as The New Annotated Dracula. With illustrations by noted horror artist Michael Manomivibul (That Hellbound Train), readers will be treated with outstanding stories of nocturnal terror that have lived in Stoker’s shadow for too long.

The assortment of authors in this collection include Sheridan Le Fanu, Aleksei Tolstoy, John Polidori, M.R. James, and Stoker himself amongst the many others to bring together the roots of the vampire genre.

IN THE SHADOW OF DRACULA ($16.99, 450 pages, full color) will be available in book stores on October 11, 2011. ISBN 978-1-60010-957-7.
