Defense With the BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as a half-zombie among them.)

Guess miracles can still happen in this zombie world.

A break in my recovery has gotten me up and about finally. Through a combination of antibiotics, steroids and a good helping of food my wounds are healing up and giving me mobility again. Enough at least to get myself collected and shuffle off from this ranger station I've called home for the past weeks, but all of this wasn’t possible without the help of Sam, a fellow survivor who has helped me immensely.

For awhile there it was looking like I was a goner with my wounds not healing properly or barely at all and any number of foes slowly zeroing in on me. Even though there is strength in numbers I felt it would be too dangerous for him to stick around with me, so I gave him some supplies I took from the bandits with a few weapons to aid him in his journey.

I'm not completely one hundred percent, but I could really wait no longer to get a move on as I'm sure those bandits were going to find my spot eventually if they searched long enough. A few hours after I left I heard the surprise I left behind go off, a spectacular explosion I have to say that, with the mountain in the backdrop, could almost have been a postcard.

This whole experience has shown me that getting sidetracked like I did does no good for the bigger picture of finding a vaccine to prevent anyone else from getting infected. Sure I could continue to hit bandit outposts and cause them more headaches, but I see that as a path of revenge and death that could lead me somewhere that will end in my demise.

I figure it's time to focus up on the real goal at hand to make it to the Northeast to the big government outpost. Put my knowledge and discoveries to good use in helping them come up with a way to stop anyone else from getting infected. I'm not worried about messing with the bandits anymore.

Besides I just don’t think a one man, half-zombie army is going to cut it in a fight against a force of their numbers. Throw in those radioactive zombies hot on my tail and their wanting to take a bite out of all of us and I think it's high time to part ways from them all. Hopefully with all the noise those bandits make it will draw the zombies off after them, leaving me to slip away.

I do have to make one more stop before leaving these bandits alone for good. I'm going to hit one more spot to grab some more supplies and medicine I think will help in creating the vaccine and I hear some of their spots have this stuff on hand.

It appears they've been busy themselves snatching up all they can get their hands on from hospitals all over. That's the new plan and hopefully by the time I get near the next spot my wounds will be healed over enough to give me back my full range I had before.

Keep surviving.
