Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as a half-zombie among them.)

Since last week I've continued my walk along the wall. I'm looking for any openings or gates that would be manned so I can get through, but so far I've come across nada. Just more destruction and death has been all I've seen as I walked this past week. Winter is coming soon and I have to figure out what my plan is or else getting caught out in the cold is going to be the death of me.

Wait a minute. I hear voices coming. A small group it sounds like and I can’t tell whether they're friend or foe. I'll let them get a bit closer before deciding my course of action. I hate this part more than facing zombies. With zombies you know what has to be done, but with other survivors it's a toss up. They can be your friend or try and kill you for your supplies just like that.

“Friend or Foe?” I yelled out at them and they all dived for cover.

“Not looking for any trouble,” one of them yelled back at me. That's a good sign.

“I'm not looking for any as well. Just information if you have it,” I repliedb ack as I had my gun sighted in their direction in case any of them tried anything funny. “Were are you heading?”

He responded back “North, trying to get as far North to cut around the wall or find a safer place.”

“How about we meet out of cover," I replied, "and discuss this then. I saw a nice safe building over here we can all rest in."

Keeping an eye on them as they came out of cover I saw they were a pretty ragged bunch with mismatched gear and clothing. Perhaps two guns between the four of them with the rest carrying melee weapons. From the looks of it I gathered they hadn’t had a real meal in days.

We meet up over by the entrance of the building and go in. Next comes some of the tenses moments as we keep sizing each other up expecting something bad to happen, but when I offer them some food it settles the situation.

We all set around and discuss each other's next move and I know I am gonna rest here a day or two.
