Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as a half-zombie among them.)

Here I thought just having the internet was a boon to being in this place. Boy was I wrong.

I've spent the last week exploring this entire campus and found a great number of useful things. On top of the fence being completely secured all the way around and pretty reinforced, most of the buildings have metal shutters that can go down over the doors as well. This place can be a fortress when in lockdown and I was surprised the level of security at this place.

I was wandering around one of the buildings and broke down this door leading me to the mother lode of supplies. Not sure what sort of food they were feeding the employees here, but even after four years there was tons of dried food and even some cold stuff since this place never lost power because of the solar panels. I found all sorts of foods that I never thought I would ever taste again and man was it good.

With the amount I found I haven’t even bothered to venture out into the surrounding areas beyond the fence. Mostly did patrols around the fence and came across a number of zombies throughout the week, killing them through the fence so others don’t see or hear them and amass at one point. Anybody in the Kansas City area: make you way to the Western side and you can find this place with plenty of room and tons of supplies.

It’s been nice to sleep for more than a few hours at a time and not worry about a zombie looking to take a bite out of me. Can’t stay here too much longer though as I figure I gotta get a move on in heading for New Mexico. At least when I leave I'll be well stocked up for the journey. I am not looking forward to being back out there and dealing with zombies every hour of every day. Gonna suck.

Now if I can just find a working car around here that would be fracking awesome…
