Defense With the BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Sometimes a freaking rolling pin can do some damage.

I was holed up in this farm house after being injured from that crash and chased by a number of zombies. I managed to lose a big
number of them and duck down into a farm house cellar and thought I lost them all. I was resting in what used to be a living room when a zombie com shambling down the stairs at me. It freaked me out that this zombie come bearing down the stairs; more like falling down the stairs.

I wasn’t in the greatest state to fight it off, as I crawled backwards on my hands and feet towards the kitchen as it came at me. For a second or two I figured it was going to get me, but I found a rolling pin laying on the floor and went to town on that zombie skull when it got near. Needless to say there was brain all over the place and it awarded me a good bit of rest that I needed.

I never thought a baking utensil would be able to take down a zombie, but that rolling pin saved my life and damn if it doesn’t do good some more. After healing up for a bit over the past week I went out of the house, I ran into a few more zombies and showed them the business end of the rolling pin. I brained about five of them and the rolling pin didn’t even show a crack or hint of wanting to break up. I think I found myself a new melee weapon.

I got myself bandaged up and headed out before too many zombies decided to track me down. Even though none followed me into the house I was hiding out in you just can't trust that little bit of truth and good luck. Hell anywhere you hole up in you cannot trust completely, save if it has a good bit of acres and a nice tall wall or fence a good ways away from the building you are in so they can’t see you at all.

I have to keep moving towards Reno and find that equipment and possible tanks in the military graveyard they have there. Started hoofing it as I have not found any vehicles that are running or have gas to get me there and thankfully when I ducked out of the house there were no zombies around. I've managed to get a good number of miles behind me before I came across any zombies and that rolling pin is still doing the job. There are some houses up ahead; I'll have to search through them to hopefully find some food; hopefully another rolling pin or two as they're strong as hell and crack zombie skulls like nothing.

Work is never done and survival is never easy.
