Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Another day and still alive. Flagstaff is behind me, with all those zombies that wanted a piece of me for what felt like the past month. I’ve been following I-40 out west for a good while now. It’s been slow going as the bicycle I'm riding can only go so fast.

I came across a town on the road called Williams about two days ago. From my scouting about the area it looks to be pretty deserted down in there and this town is small enough that any zombies that could have come from here will be gone. With the state of my supplies and needing to rest I decided to go in for a look.

I found an RV parked on one side of the town that had a few vehicles that would work as a good base to camp out in. None of the RVs were running with their gas long since gone (in addition to useless and dead batteries), but the beds are comfy and toilets work to make a somewhat more comfortable living then I have been used to. I made sure to block and lock the door and picked an RV that has a roof escape hatch just in case.

I figure to hang around this town for as long as I can to collect what supplies there are left. With a couple of small hotels to check out, I hope to find some stuff that can aid me as these sort of places usually have big freezers and pantries in addition to medical supplies. So far I haven’t see any zombies since I left Flagstaff or in this small town to which I take as a blessing.

From the few parts of the town I saw from a hilltop perch, it looks like there were some walls and blockades erected in parts. Someone must have been holding out here or could still be here. I won’t know until I get in there and start to poke around, but I'll make sure to keep my head down and eyes peeled for anything and everything. If there are survivors here hopefully they are the somewhat friendly kind and not the kill first steal all your stuff kind.
