Defense With The BoomStick

(Defense With The BoomStick Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Well that's the end of that. Here it is Friday; I think it is at least and I am back on the road, going as fast as I can. After what I left behind me speed is of the utmost necessity now more than ever if I want to survive. Yesterday morning I was up on the town water tower scanning the horizon when I saw this big blob moving down the road.

Zooming in with the binoculars I saw that it's one motherlode of a zombie horde heading my way. I haven’t seen a pack this large in at last a year (if not two) back in the northeast. I had about five hours before this herd hit the town I was in and when it hit I knew nothing would be left standing. There isn’t a place to hide anywhere in this town that could keep me safe, as a horde of this size will just mow through and destroy any building in their way.

I packed all my stuff up on the one running gator and had it ready to go. I wasn’t able to get everything packed down and able to carry, but did get the stuff that will help me get to Reno. After squaring away all that I decided to put a dent in the horde or hopefully slow it down somewhat to aid in my escape. I didn’t have a lot of time to do all I wanted, but anything was better than nothing.

I left a few traps around and moved cars in the road to help funnel them. In addition to setting a few houses on fire and just causing as much chaos as I could to lure them towards this town and away from the road after me. For good measure I left a pile of wooden pallets on the main road covered in booze, gas, diesel fuel...anything that burned. I didn’t light this pile up yet as I didn’t want it to burn out before the zombie horde got to it, so I left a few kerosene lamps burning on and around it.

The plan is that one of the zombies knocks over one or a few of the lamps the fumes catch and whoosh: a quick burning blaze that should catch zombies on fire around it and when they start bouncing around will catch other zombies on fire as well. If it moves and burns fast enough maybe can take out a whole swath of those undead bastards. At least that is what I hope will happen I’m not sticking around to find out if it goes down like that.

Need to get out of here.
