Year 5. Week 13.
The weather is changing, air is chillier and the occasional snow has fallen. Winter is here and we have many miles to go. We've been hauling up 395, trying to get ahead of the weather and out of the mountains before it gets worse and traps us up here. So far it’s all smooth sailing down the roads these past few days; not any blockades or zombies in our way.
As of now we are stopped in a little place called Mono City, a small town in the middle of Yosemite National Forest that puts us a few hours from Nevada border. Just resting up and plotting our next move as we begin to head into the deserts of Nevada. Stopping here also allows us to look for more supplies or gear we can use to survive out in the desert, even though it's becoming winter the desert can still be brutally hot during the day.
We have to stock up on as much water and gas as we can find so we don’t end up stuck out there and have to walk it. I can feel we are getting close to Reno though and--hopefully--the equipment we need to take the fight back to the zombies. It make take a few more years, but we are going to kill every single one of them and take back what was ours and will be ours. If there are more survivors like those we just left around the country--there just has to be--than it’s not that impossible a goal to think about.
Sure, they military tried to fight this before and lost horribly. This time around it will be different as we know what must be done and how to do it. This time there are a whole lot less people to get infected and keep spreading it among the fighters, which caused much of the confusion and fear in the original war all those years ago. Now it will be an all-out war with us unleashing all manner of destruction on the zombies with no worries.
As time has proven, there's just no way to save them anymore. With the right tools we can just mow them down and that's what we plan on doing. Now it's time to rest up and do what we can to get ourselves ready for what lies ahead.
