Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Year 5. Week 20.

With another week of prep a lot more has been accomplished; mainly, got a few more vehicles up and running that can be used in patrolling the area around our base here. Things are really starting to come together for our band of survivors and hopefully soon we'll be taking the fight to those bastard zombies.

Our only problem is having enough ammo for all the vehicles. The teams that went out searching have not gotten back yet; not sure what that could mean, but we're just hoping they're only delayed by normal problems and not zombies. The radios in their vehicles only have a certain range since they took handhelds, leaving us to wait until they get close enough to find out the good or bad news.

Talking with the other groups we have working on this plan, it sounds like another week or so will be go by until they can get here. Figure to get everyone here organized and muster out from this location towards our target in Carson City. Plus, with all the minds here we can come up with the battle plan to kill as many zombies as possible while no loss to our forces if they can be avoided. We have to use every advantage afforded to us or else we are going to end up surrounded and dead.

I think we might have to send a small team to scout out the city and find any information that could aid us in insuring that happens. I doubt those zombies are setting traps or are even smart enough to set a trap, but something is pulling them all there and that same something might just have the intelligence to prepare for an attack. With this long a time passing since the initial outbreak, those zombies down there in Carson City are survivors in their own right. I wouldn’t think after over five years there could be so many zombies still milling about.

Who knows. Maybe we can get word to a government that still has the firepower to level a city and get them to come take it out. No nuclear bombs, as that's been proven to make the ones who get only the radiation to be faster and smarter. Hell, never even sure there is any group out there with that sort of firepower, just some wishful thinking on my part. Work, work, work.
