Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Year 5. Week 23.

It's begun. We’ve gone to war and so far it's going in our favor. Using the helicopter to drop homemade bombs and Molotov cocktails got the zombies all riled up and circling about to try and find where the ruckus was coming from. Then, using the tanks and some mortars we sustained a shelling of the buildings that had them crashing down on all the zombies in the streets.

This kept this up for a good hour or so with guys on the ground around the tanks keeping any zombies that come our way out of the fight permanently to allow the tanks more time to keep shooting. After the helicopter hit their threshold of fuel level we stopped our blasting, packed up the fighters and got out of there. We fell back towards our traps and defenses with the horde of zombies heading our way.

Pulling out, we left plenty of timed explosives behind and a few pits filled with gasoline so when the zombies start piling up in them and the bombs go even more zombies will get burned down. With plenty more pitfalls along the way as well we continue to fall back; the pitfalls will probably not kill the zombies, but at least it will take them out of action. Even got the tanks shooting shells their way as we pull back and the machine guns on top letting the bullets fly. Every zombie we can take out the better for us it is.

We have a good half day lead on the edge of the zombie pack as we continue to move north back through that valley town with our two recon teams up on each hill keeping an eye on the zombie horde falling. Just want to make sure any of the zombies don’t split off in a way to outmaneuver us or try and circle around before we get out of this valley. From the looks of the damage we did and the amount of zombies chasing us I think we managed to get just about all of the ones that we didn’t kill chasing us now.

The new plan now is to keep one vehicle within sight of the zombie horde to keep them following in the direction we want, so the rest of the group can circle around the western side of Carson City and find out what's going on there. On top of that if we can cause more damage and destruction there the better. For whatever reason that amount of zombies got together there means there has to be something there worthwhile to group together.

The ground forces are gonna circle around while the group in the helicopter is going to head back to refuel. Then the helicopter is gonna pick up a few more folks and fly us over to Carson City so we can scout out what's going on and perhaps land a few people up on a building to take a look inside. Lots to do over the next few days and so far there have been no casualties, but with the type of intrusion we've got planned, I can't say that won't change. Lots to do…
