Galaxy Isn't Big Enough for E.G.O.s

Having an ego means you're either really good at what you do or just really cocky. A little bit of both goes a long way in the galaxy and Image Comics has a whole lot of ego in E.G.O.s. The Earth/Galactic Operatives is a team that defended humanity from evil forces and this September the graphic novel E.G.O.s Volume 1: Quintessence by Stuart Moore and Gus Storms hits stores. When the E.G.O.s’ deadliest villain, the world-absorbing entity known as Masse, returns, Deuce’s goal of relaunching the E.G.O.s is no longer just a matter of pride: The future of the galaxy depends on it.

“Deuce is under enormous pressure to assemble this team fast, in order to take down Masse,” Moore explained. “There's a crucial line where Pixel asks him, ‘How do you plan to staff, train, and launch an entire superhero team in one week?’ The answer: He'll do anything he has to. But yes, he likes the attention as well.”

Moore teamed up with artist Gus Storms when Storms’ art caught the eye of comics editor and colorist Marie Javins, who is also an instructor at the School of Visual Arts.

“Stuart wanted something lively, vital; space with a little bombast,” said Storms. “He mentioned liking the visual irreverence of the Legion of Super-Heroes, where everyone’s power is neon and just a little bit silly. It seemed like a good fit here, the comic has a pretty black core so I thought a candy-colored shell would fit nicely.”

A space opera for all lovers of sci-fi and superheroes, E.G.O.s Volume 1: Quintessence will be in comic book stores (Diamond Order Codes JUL140482) on September 3 and in bookstores (ISBN 978-1-63215-103-2) on September 16. It collects the issues #0-5 and will set you back $9.99.

THE GALAXY ISN’T BIG ENOUGH FOR THESE E.G.O.s

Sci-fi superhero graphic novel from
Image Comics in September

Deuce was once the toast of the galaxy, the teenage leader of E.G.O.s (Earth/Galactic Operatives), a team that defended humanity from evil forces. Now, in the September graphic novel from Image Comics, E.G.O.s VOLUME 1: QUINTESSENCE by Stuart Moore (Civil War, Web of Spider-Man) and Gus Storms (Twelve Reasons to Die), he’s an aging egomaniac trying desperately to hold on to his former glory, while his wife Pixel, the image-obsessed daughter of a super-villainess, barely tolerates him.
When the E.G.O.s’ deadliest villain, the world-absorbing entity known as Masse, returns, Deuce’s goal of relaunching the E.G.O.s is no longer just a matter of pride: The future of the galaxy depends on it.
“Deuce is under enormous pressure to assemble this team fast, in order to take down Masse,” Moore explained in an interview with Comic Book Resources. “There's a crucial line where Pixel asks him, ‘How do you plan to staff, train, and launch an entire superhero team in one week?’ The answer: He'll do anything he has to. But yes, he likes the attention as well.”
