(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living in this zombie world.)
Year 6. Week 13.
Well, that didn’t go as planned.
We crashed in western Tennessee on our way back to Kansas City. Everything was going smoothly on the flight back, but I guess we just had a little too much weight in the back. Next thing you need the engines are stalling out and we started to fall from the sky.
I've gotta give it to Ryan; he did his best to keep the plane level and aloft as we searched for a place to do a more gentle crash. He thought he could glide it down onto a road and be ok, but all the roads beneath us were thick with abandoned cars and zombies. This forced us to go to plan B, which involved us doing a gentle crash into a lake that wasn't fun at all. One minute up in the air bracing for the impact with the water, next thing I know we're slamming into the water and then scrambling to save ourselves.
We managed to get all three of us off the plane and grab some gear before the plane sunk below the water. Now we found ourselves cold, wet and a little banged up with no clue where we are. At least we have no clue until we can find some road signs or markers for towns and can track them down using the map we managed to save. I swear man-- it just doesn't go right at all anymore at those pivotal times you want it too. Hopefully the other two teams are doing ok themselves; hell hope the outpost is doing fine as we lost our radio in the crash.
Now we are holed up in house a few miles from the crash. Still trying to take stock of what happened and get rested up after being banged around. In a day or two the plan is to start our hike back in a westerly direction until we can find a town and get a better sense of where we need to head. This is going to be a long walk unless we can find some working vehicles along the way. One thing we're gonna need to find is more weapons.
All three of us managed to save our primary weapons, but not a lot of ammo as that bag got buried in the back under the gear we were bringing back from the warehouse. Among the three of us we each have whatever ammo was on our persons at the time and that ain’t much. We're going to find a gun or a hardware store to make some melee weapons just in case. If there are any zombies around that crash it will draw them in for miles, making all the more reason for us to get out of the area as soon as we can.
Tons of miles between us and home. Tons of miles left to walk.
