ComixTribe Annoucnes Chum

One of the tenets of going to the beach is when you see a fin floating above the water, get back to land. Sharks make short work of anyone bold enough to stick around. Sharks rally to chum in the water--a fact that ComixTribe is using to its advantage. Their new series Chum by Ryan K Lindsay and Sami Kivela tells a surf noir story straight off the drugstore paperback rack that will ruin your faith in people, and keep you away from the water. Each issue of the series features a standard cover by Kivela and a limited variant cover by industry stars and upcoming talent.

"I've long loved terse, brutal, pulp pop crime stories," said Lindsay. "With one foot in taut paperback vintage like old dime stores delivered and the other foot deep in decades of high quality neo noir comics, CHUM is my flag in this fertile blood soaked ground."

Chum is about Summer Stanwyck, a woman who feels trapped. She tends bar on the island she grew up on, the local cop is about to become her ex-husband, and she’s wasting time screwing the local reefer kingpin. But when a bag full of cash and drugs falls into her lap, she sees a way out... and anyone who gets in her way is shark bait.

"I'm thrilled to be working with Sami and Ryan to bring this story to the comic book shelves," said publisher Tyler James. "CHUM is something completely new and different for ComixTribe, but thoroughly inline with the level of quality our readers have come to expect from our titles. Ryan and Sami have crafted a killer book."

"It’s been a huge privilege to work again with such a talented and hard-working writer and gentleman as Ryan," said Kivela. "As a big fan of crime comics, I’ve truly enjoyed illustrating every panel of this thrilling beach noir story. Can’t wait for readers to experience what happens on Kingsford Island."

ComixTribe Announces New Surf Noir Series CHUM

Writer Ryan K Lindsay (Dark Horse's Negative Space) and Artist Sami Kivela (Zenescope's Realm War) Bring "Pulp Fiction on the Beach" Yarn to the Comic Market Next April

December 14, 2015 -- Newburyport, MA -- ComixTribe announced today the upcoming release of CHUM, a new monthly mini-series debuting in April. Writer Ryan K Lindsay (Negative Space, Headspace) has joined forces with Sami Kivela (Realm War, Hit List) to tell a surf noir story straight off the drugstore paperback rack that will ruin your faith in people, and keep you away from the water.
"I've long loved terse, brutal, pulp pop crime stories," said writer Ryan K Lindsay. "With one foot in taut paperback vintage like old dime stores delivered and the other foot deep in decades of high quality neo noir comics, CHUM is my flag in this fertile blood soaked ground."

CHUM is a surf noir book where an unloved triangle on a small island leads to blood in the water.

CHUM tells the story of Summer Stanwyck, a woman who feels trapped.

Each issue of the series features a standard cover by Sami Kivela and a limited variant cover by industry stars and upcoming talent.

This series is the second collaboration between Lindsay and Kivela, who made waves last year with the successful DEER EDITOR digital-only Kickstarter campaign.

"Getting to work with Sami again has been a truly amazing collaborative experience, and watching the colors of Mark Dale bring this world and these tragic figures to life is my pleasure... while it'll be their downward spiral," said Lindsay.
ComixTribe has announced that teaser images, previews and more will be posted at the new CHUM Facebook Page, in anticipation of the series' release in April 2016.

CHUM will release in the direct market and digitally (day-and-date) on Comixology.
