Dave Stevens’ The Rocketeer: Artist’s Edition

I was a big fan of The Rocketeer growing up. I mean, it's about a guy with a rocketpack strapped to his back that saves the world. And it has Jennifer Connelly in extremely sexy 1938 garb! I mean, you really can't go wrong. Well, the nearly twenty year old movie is based on an even older comic by Dave Stevens; a comic that IDW has collected in a glorious hardcover approriately titled IDW Collects Dave Stevens' Work from The Rocketeer. Not really. It's called Dave Stevens’ The Rocketeer: Artist’s Edition.

IDW Publishing has teamed with the estate of Dave Stevens to release the 100-page, 12" x 17" hardcover book in black and white. It features nearly every page of The Rocketeer comic scanned in color from the original art. The 12" x 17" size was necessary to keep the pages at the same size as the original art and the uncoated stock adds a little flourish if you will to the pages.

Dave Stevens’ The Rocketeer: Artist’s Edition will be available exclusively through IDW Publishing and will launch at San Diego Comic Con International on July 21, 2010 at $100. And just because I love you guys so much, here's Ms. Connelly in a picture from the movie.
