ComixTribe Expands Mico-Distribution

If you're a small indie publisher looking to get bigger and get the name out there more, then doubling your direct-to-retailer sales for a month can only be good news. ComixTribe is rolling in good news right now.

The publisher has just announced that it has doubled the number of retailers carrying its books for the month of February. Not only that, but they're also shipping twice as many books direct-to-retailers in February as well. The publisher has opted to circumvent the traditional direct market distribution channel and their books are now being carried in more than 50 retail locations in the US and Canada.

"We couldn't be more excited about where we are as a young imprint," said ComixTribe Publisher Tyler James. "SCAM has done extremely well for us, and orders for THE RED TEN are way up for the second issue. ComixTribe has shipped more than 2,000 books direct-to-retailers in 2012, and we're just getting started." Both The Red Ten #2 and Scam #1 second printing debut February 29.

It's not just James that's excited. Local comic book shops are equally thrilled.

While the direct market has sometimes been luke-warm to new publishers, many retailers are finding real value in carrying these books. "What I love about ComixTribe is that not only are they creating quality stuff, but they never stop hustling to promote it," said Chris Proulx of Double Midnight Comic.

"THE RED TEN & SCAM have been very popular in our shop! They are selling better than mid-tier Marvel & the guys at ComixTribe work their butts off," said Ernie Pelletier of Friendly Neighborhood Comics.

On February 29 at Friendly Neighborhood Comics in Bellingham, MA, James and The Red Ten co-creator Cesar Feliciano will be on hand to sign books and provide witty banter with fans. They'll also be bringing along The Red Ten #2 first printing, The Red Ten #2 Blood Smear Variants, The Red Ten #1 first printing and The Red Ten #1 Artist Edition. Joe Martino will also be on hand to sign books as well.
