Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Year 5. Week 28.

Well guess who decided to join the party; even if they're late to help out. Seems that large government sanctuary that was up in the northeast had some of those forces still around. They've been holed up in the mountains and regrouping after the disaster that was the northeast.

With all the radio chatter we've been broadcasting to keep the groups between Nevada, Colorado and northern California they picked up our transmissions and got in contact with us in Reno. They are deciding to lend their remaining forces to team up with ours so we can go back to Carson City and finish the job once and for all. Over the past week we've gotten more of those survivors who cannot fight out of town and over the border to the other survivor camps.

Getting them out of harms way is more important than anything we can do here as the more people that keep surviving the better hope we all have. The government forces are air dropping supplies to all three of our camps and are beginning to bring men and equipment to the one in Reno. We are going to consolidate just about every resource and able fighting person and head back towards Carson City, as we gear up to bomb the hell out of every zombie in sight.

It will be nice to have a little more air support to throw at them too. The one helicopter we have was doing a damn fine job, but having some gunships that can bring a lot more firepower to bear is gonna be the thing that can turn the tide. Sure, back when this all started they had even more firepower, but back then they didn’t know what sort of threat this was. Now there is no illusion about the threat zombies present and we can take care to do what is necessary.

Plus with the amount of activity we have going on around here there's no way this place will stay hidden from a zombie horde for too much longer. Going on the offensive is going to be the only option we have unless we want to become completely surrounded by thousands of zombies in this spot. With the additional forces we have scouts out further in all directions around here and thanks to the new equipment we have reliable radios to stay in contact. If anything is coming this way we will know about it and be able to bring support quickly to any scout team that spots them.

I know taking out the zombies in Carson City will not free the entire country of zombies, but I feel it will take a big chunk of them out. Being over five years since the outbreak began the number of zombies cannot be too great still. At least that's what I tell myself and hope to see the day you can be outside of a wall or safe camp without fear of zombies tearing you apart. A day to keep fighting for.
