Stumptown Comics Fest

For those folks on the west coast, when you hear about comic conventions, typically the only one that comes to mind is San Diego Comic Con. And why shouldn't it? Its only the biggest geek fest of the year. But for you kids in the Pacific Northwest, there's another convention coming up that may be slightly closer than San Diego. The Stumptown Comics Fest takes place at the Lloyd Center Doubletree in Portland, OR, this Saturday and Sunday (September 29 and 30). The event runs from 10 AM to 6 PM each day, and is $8 $5 a day for admission. The show started in 2004, and in the three years since its inception has gotten bigger and bigger. The lineups for Saturday and Sunday read like an offering of half panels and half college courses. There are various panels looking at the work of various cartoonists, but there's also workshops/sessions where instructors teach attendees the finer points of cartooning and publishing. So if you're in the Portland, OR, area, and have nothing better to do this weekend, by all means head on over to the Lloyd Center Doubletree. Stumptown Comics Fest

  1. Just nipping in to say it's $5 at the door for admission, not $8.
