Is it still a preview a day after its released? I guess it is, since if you're reading the preview its still a preview to you. Vertigo is taking great strides to celebrate Black History Month with the release of Incognegro, a graphic novel examining race and self-image in the US. Written by Mat Johnson, Incognegro tells the story of Zane Pinchback, a reporter for the New York based New Holland Herald in the early 20th century. The idea behind the novel is that light-skinned African-Americans could pass as white in the south (hence the incognegro aspect of it), obviously granting them more privileges and access for reporting. Pinchback returns to Harlem after his latest story goes bad, and is then sent to investigate the arrest of his brother, charged with killing a white woman in Mississippi. Johnson (Hellblazer: Papa Midnite) provides the story, while Warren Fleece (Hellblazer, The Invisibles) provides stunning black and white artwork. Stephen John Phillips is on cover duty, and Incognegro hit stores February 6 for $19.99. Do yourself a favor, and keep expanding those horizons by checking out this book. Preview: Incognegro
