Zak Penn scribing The Avengers?

I'm happy to bring you an update about Marvel's epic team-up of teamups, The Avengers (as opposed to another update about DC's megateam that shall not be named). According to IESB and Zak Penn, the movie is probably closer than you think, but still a ways off. "The Avengers is a project in the future," says Penn, "That's the best way to put it until Iron Man and The Hulk come out. I haven't talked to Marvel about it in awhile because I think that the best way to do it is to put together a movie that uses all the characters and so they probably want to see how the movies do and figure that out first." You might remember Penn as writer for movies such as The Incredible Hulk, X-Men: The Last Stand and Fantastic Four, so I'd say he has a pretty good grasp of the comic book genre. Its also interesting when you check out his IMDB page, it credits him with being a writer on The Avengers and a 2009 date attached to it. Stay tuned. Penn-ing The Avengers
