The Dark Knight breaks box office records
What if I told you that The Dark Knight made money? You probably wouldn't be surprised. What if I told you that it made a lot of money? Still no surprise I'm guessing. So I'll stop with the questions and just get to it: The Dark Knight made a TON of money.
Associated Press is reporting that the film has already grossed $155.3 million in the three days its been in release. This total surpassed the $151.1 million that Spider-man 3 pulled in, making The Dark Knight the movie responsible for the highest grossing opening weekend of all time. This amount is higher than studio execs predicted, and is only part of the massive numbers this film will pull in.
Batman Begins opened with $48.7 million, no doubt due to hesitation on the part of moviegoers as a result of the last go round with Batman being Batman and Robin. Batman Begins eventually went on to gross $205 million, a total that The Dark Knight will surely top in a few more days.
If you haven't seen this movie yet, go now as fast as you can. If you want to know what to expect, you can check out my review here. This is easily the greatest comic book movie ever made, and can definitely be considered to be one of the best movies made period.
