Alex Ross painting Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Kollector's Edition cover

You know, these days I don't think you can find a comic without a variant cover by Arthur Suydam or Alex Ross. Both of them add a certain gravitas to what is a solid cover by itself, but their unique styles really add that next level of intensity to the work. And this trend doesn't seem to be stopping at just comics, as Midway has just announced that none other than Ross himself will being doing a cover for the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Kollector's Edition which apparently will only be released in North America. Above is the cover, and below is the announcement from Midway. "Today, Midway officially confirmed details and box art for the special North American Kollector's Edition of Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. Featuring box art that was hand painted by Alex Ross, one of the world's most pre-eminent and respected comic book artists, the Kollector's Edition will come in special packaging and feature an exclusive removable print designed by Ross as well as bonus video content. In addition, John Tobias, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise, returns to sketch a 16-page comic book to be published by DC Comics that chronicles the shocking, universe-shattering events that lead up to the in-game story mode."

  2. I'll admit, I wasn't too keen on the game, but the screens that have been coming out don't look half bad at all. I'm still not a big fan of Mortal Kombat, but the DC aspect may save it for me...
