Christopher Reeve Superman statue

A lot of people (Omnicomic included) have attributed the recent boom in comic book movies to the phenomenal success that was Spider-Man. Sure, there were a few comic book movies before that first Spider-Man film, but none of them resonated with the audience and comic book fans like that one. I'm not here to argue that point...I still believe that Spider-Man is the reason that we're getting all these movies. But I'd be an idiot to not recognize what Christopher Reeve did as Superman as at least a precursor. To honor Reeve's fantastic portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman, DC Direct is releasing a commemorative statue showcasing Reeves from the first Superman, sculpted by Karen Palinko. The limited edition, cold-cast porcelain statue is 12.5" tall by 5.5" wide by 3.75" deep, and features Reeve in Superman garb standing atop an S-shield base. The statue includes a 4-color Certificate of Authenticity and is packaged in a 4-color box. The statue will be available for order May 27, 2009 for $195.00. If you're a fan of Superman you really owe it to yourself to get this statue. Reeves cast a massive shadow as the Man of Steel, and this statue immortalizes the role that forever defined Reeves.
