Spawn: Book of the Dead coming in November

Spawn has done a lot for comics. He pretty much ruled the 90s as far as comics go, and has a legion of followers that to this day follow the character religiously. And to thank the fans (and the character), Todd McFarlane has been hard at work on a project that pays a great tribute to Spawn in Spawn: Book of the Dead, due in stores November. The 104-page hardcover volume is written by Steve Niles and David Hine and serves as the ultimate guide for Spawn fans, with every character within the Spawn universe beautifully rendered by Ashley Wood. "Spawn: Book of the Dead is an overview of more than 200 issues of various stories spread out over multiple titles. The intent of this book was to try and condense those thousands of pages, ideas and characters into a digestible version for those who haven't been keeping their own notebook about my flagship character. To help bring this idea to life, Steve Niles took my ideas and strung together a timeline of some of those events. Then, the near impossible task of putting artwork to the huge mythology of Spawn fell on the shoulders of Ashley Wood. "Both of these gentlemen handed in a compelling and thought-provoking final piece; Steve, through his wonderful words, and Ashley through his mind-bending, evocative images. This book has been sitting dormant for a couple of years now, and it's very gratifying to finally see it come to fruition. With the help of David Hine and my able staff (as well as Ashley updating a handful of the art pieces), I hope that you will agree with me that the wait was definitely worth it. "Let me know your thoughts after you've seen the book and tell me whether we should do a follow-up book for the next 100 issues of the main Spawn title." Quantities are limited to 3,500 copies (at $29.99 each) and will be available only through Diamond Distributors. McFarlane himself will be signing each copy, and the first 3,000 editions will include an exclusive pewter "Raven" Spawn figure that sells for $32.99.
