Rest in Peace: Pat Hingle

Yesterday Pat Hingle, a veteran actor whose career included a recurring role as Commissioner James Gordon in Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, died after battling blood cancer at the age of 84, according to the Associated Press. He was diagnosed with myelodysplasia in November 2006 which essentially meant he problem creating new blood. While no one will argue that the quality of the first run of Batman films slowly digressed, you'd be hard pressed to find any one that didn't think Hingle did a great job portraying the famed Commissioner. Granted, Gary Oldman has basically assumed the crown as the better Gordon (much like Heath Ledger is the better Joker over Jack Nicholson), but Hingle was still great in his role. Omnicomic sends it condolences to the Hingle family.
