Sci Fi wants to redo The Phantom. As in make another movie focused on the character, except this time it will be made for TV (screw the theaters). You have to have a lead actor to make a movie such as this, especially when you're looking to air the four-hour movie sometime next year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Carnes is that lead actor.
Carnes will play the purple-clad hero while Isabella Rossellini will play the villain Lithia, overseeing the standard villain routine of mind-control experiment. Carne is probably best known for his role on Desperate Housewives, but he's also played parts in Doctor Who and was the "Marine at Clearing" in Letters from Iwo Jima (according to IMDB). So yeah, not a whole lot.
Production on the film has started, so expect to see the two-part movie sometime in 2010.
