Mike Allred permanent cover artist for Jersey Gods

Jersey Gods has been getting quite the praise as of late. And why shouldn't it? The tale of a fun-loving girl named Zoe that grew up in a New Jersey suburb and end up marrying the first God of war that crashes in her town while fighting his arch nemesis. The quirky tale of Zoe introducing said God to her parents has had a slew of cover artists, but Image Comics has finally settled on Mike Allred to take over full time. Allred picks up where Erik Larsen left off with the next issue of the book. He'll be joined on occasion by a "lineage" of cover artists that include John Romita, Jr., Whilce Portacio and Paul Pope for various incentive covers. For the most part though, the ball is completely in Allred's court. "I consider Mike Allred to be one of the greatest artists currently working in comics today," Brunswick said. "When Joe Keatinge told me that we had a shot at getting Mike to illustrate the cover to our first issue of JERSEY GODS I was really excited. The Jersey Turnpike racing cover that Mike turned in has become iconic - in one single image Mike was able to convey the entire essence of the series. Since then Mike has been gracious enough to do four more unbelievable covers for us. If you told me six months ago that Mike Allred was going to become our permanent JERSEY GODS cover artist, I'd have wondering which psych ward you just wandered out of. On the other hand, maybe I'm the one that's crazy after all...and damn happy about it. Welcome aboard, Mike!" Full press release below.
