The Pitt of Darkness
The Pitt is one of those characters that got kind of lost in the fold of the 90s for some reason. The Pitt a human/alien hybrid that was created by an alien race called the Creed and genetically engineered to serve as a killing machine. So the great, big teeth and massive claws really do wonders for his quest. The series started in 1993 and ran for about five years until creator/artist Dale Keown went on to other things. The character has certainly not been forgotten by Top Cow, who have decided in their infinite wisdom that it would be awesome to cross Pitt over with another fan favorite in the Darkness. The crossover that's been a long time in the making.
”Darkness/Pitt has been a labor of love but it has been well worth it. As always, I’m excited to work with Dale on Jackie Estacado, a character we’re so familiar with, and I’m gratified he’s allowed me the opportunity to work with characters so near and dear to his heart in Pitt and Tim,” commented writer Jenkins, “The book looks as beautiful as I always hoped it would, and I trust fans will forgive me for bringing a voice to some of Dale’s most beloved creations.”
Here's the deal. The crossover follows Pitt and his human half-brother Tim on a mission to seek out those infected with an alien virus in New York. Jackie Estacado likes to know what's going on in his city though, and when the two of them collide it brings in the Federal Government.
Keown teams up with writer Paul Jenkins for the three-issue miniseries, with the first issue set to hit stores August 2009. There will be two covers, one by Keown and one by Witchblade favorite Stjepan Sejic. Check out the second cover below, as well as the full press release. If nothing else at least you know the covers are genuinely badass.

LOS ANGELES, Calif., July 1st, 2009 – Top Cow Productions, Inc. proudly announced today that Dale Keown’s classic hero, Pitt, will make his return to comics in the long awaited crossover event The Darkness/Pitt. The three-issue mini-series reunites Pitt creator and artist Dale Keown (Hulk: The End) with writer Paul Jenkins (Captain America, Mythos), who worked together on the second volume of The Darkness.
