When Nintendo's Wii first hit American shores they were damn near impossible to find. I should know, considering I went to Toys R' Us on launch night, CompUSA Thanksgiving evening and Target on Black Friday. Little did I know that GameStop (ugh) would be the savior and I finally found one a week after it was launched. Scores of others weren't so lucky, and there were reports that Nintendo was artificially creating demand by withholding supply.
Great story right? Why the hell am I telling you it you ask?
Marvel saw how popular Deadpool has become and had Rob Liefeld create a new version: Lady Deadpool. Deadpool: Merc With a Mouth #7 hits stores 1/20/2010 and in an act that could be considered Marvel artificially creating demand the second printing variant will appear alongside the first print. Wait, what?
You're probably wondering what's the difference. I mean, they're both the same issue and normally subsequent printings are sent to retailers at least a few weeks after the initial printing. Marvel says that retailers are declaring preorder sellouts, meaning that there's clearly a market for this book. But having the second printing simultaneous with the first? I don't know Marvel...seems a little shady business-y.
The variant features a Rob Liefeld cover and features a story written by Victor Gischler. Other artists on the docket include Kyle Baker, Bong Dazo and Das Pastoras.
