The year 1978 predates me (just barely). It was the end at the tail end of a turbulent decade and a time when comics weren't nearly as popular. This year though there was one comic that featured a character fresh off a feature film debut against quite possibly one of the greatest athletes at his craft. Yep, there was a comic pitting Superman vs. Muhammad Ali. And it's going to be reprinted.
The historic one-shot featured the Man of Steel teaming up with the The GOAT (Greatest of All Time) to fight of an alien invasion of Earth. The story was co-plotted and written by Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams and features the art of Adams. The reprint will feature the same great story and art in two formats: deluxe hardcover edition with an expanded sketch section and new content and cover by Adams as well as a limited edition hardcover in the original trim-size and cover. Both should be available next fall (2010).
