In news that is sure to make Tedd ecstatic, Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that Marvel is close to finalizing a deal where Joss Whedon will direct the Avengers. According to the article, Whedon has been a favorite for a while now and it seems that it's all said and done. Obviously, take this with a grain of salt as it is, but Deadline Hollywood Daily is usually pretty on it when it comes to this stuff.
