Warlord of Mars #1 Ships October

If I were a multinational fast food corporation I would ask you "what can you get for $1?" and then proceed to show you whimsical daily things that can be had for that amount. Unfortunately, I'm not that multinational fast food corporation, and even if I was I doubt a comic would be included in that whimsical list. Thankfully, I am a comic person, which means I'll gladly recommend a comic for $1.

Warlord of Mars #1 Ships from Dynamite Entertainment ships this October at that scant $1 price point. It's written by Arvid Nelson, penciled/inked by Stephen Sadowski and features covers by Alex Ross (30%), Joe Jusko (30%), J. Scott Campbell (30%) and Lucio Parrillo (10%). In it, the oiriginal warrior of Mars returns, enhancing the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs story, Princess of Mars. John Carter is an ex-cavalry officer in the Confederate Army who finds himself mysteriously transported to Mars, where he's joined by Tars Tarkas and Dejah Thoris, a Martian princess.

Might be good to get caught up on your John Carter knowledge as the film is due in theaters June 2012.
