Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard Sells Out

For a company like Archaia a sell out is a good thing. Sure, there's no more product on the shelves for those that actually want to buy it, but isn't that what a second printing is for? Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard has just reached that threshold after the initial run of 15,000 copies sold out in two days.

“Archaia and I put a lot of thought into how we would want to make and present a MOUSE GUARD anthology,” said Petersen. “After seeing the contributors execute their stories so well and seeing the final book layout and design, I am very happy the public agreed with our choices and rallied behind this book enough to have us sell out of a first printing so quickly! It gets me very excited for what we will have in store with LEGENDS OF THE GUARD VOL. 2.”

Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard is sold out at the distributor level, but the 144-page book is available at local retailers. Set inside the June Alley Inn, located in the western mouse city of Barkstone, mice have gathered to tell tales, each trying to outdo the other. A competition, of sorts, begins. The rules: Every story must contain one truth, one lie, and have never been told in that tavern before. Petersen writes and draws the scenes in the inn while the contributors he selected write and draw the tales. The contributors include Jeremy Bastian, Katie Cook, Guy Davis, Lowell Francis, Gene Ha, Alex Kain, Karl Kerschl, João Lemos, Terry Moore, Ted Naifeh, Craig Rousseau, Sean Rubin, Alex Sheikman and Mark Smylie.

Comments

  1. Good! A truly entertaining title with varied art from a number of different people woven together by David Petersen and Archaia Studios. It is always nice to see good storytelling in a fantasy setting like this do well without the need for massive explosions, super powers, or scantily clad ladies - not that I'm against any of those things in comics mind you.
