Defense with the BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is set in a world where zombies have taken over and people live in small spots all over the world. It’s a weekly broadcast of news from around the globe and a tip to help survival.)

A break has finally come our way from this zombie onslaught that has besieged us for the past few weeks. It has been two days since any new zombies have arrived after we finished off the last of the original waves. Haven't done any real cleanup efforts yet as we're just riding this quiet part out to be sure no more zombies show up out of nowhere. I was getting pretty worried there that we would see no end of these zombies coming at us. Today will be brief so we can continue to take advantage and make repairs all around the compound. Now for the news.

First up I have to say that the broadcasts I've been hearing have been a lot more positive than the ones from last week. More survivors have been evacuated from their locations to safer zones away from the zombies attacking them. The best part though is there have been less broadcasts and calls about being overrun by zombies these past few days. Maybe that means the worst is over for now with all of these massive zombie attacks that happened the last month or so. Just going to wait and see where this turn of events goes; hopefully for the better is all I can say. Let’s have the tip.

The tip for today will cover the best spots in a hotel to find supplies and how to escape out of there if you have to (remember this will be a general version since every hotel is different). I picked a hotel as pretty much anywhere in the world you go a hotel is there with a good chance to find some useful items. Depending on the size of the hotel it is best to move slow, but with a sense of urgency as you have to clear some areas quickly and not linger to long. If you linger too long anywhere then you can possibly have zombies come down on you, making an escape necessary.

Before it gets to that point the smart places to search are the kitchen, maintenance workrooms and most of the backroom areas employees would have used. You can search rooms for supplies, but that would be too time consuming and dangerous as you have no clue how many zombies could be lurking. Escaping from a hotel should always be on your mind as with being in any building tight spaces could either screw you over or save you. Stick to melee weapons while inside to keep the noise you make down and having it out gives you a weapon to shove zombies out your way when making a run for it.

You should never stay to fight any zombies unless they’re directly in your path, but even then you should always look for alternate routes to get out. if you can help it you should never go above the second floor just in case you have to make an escape out the window. If you keep your wits about you and focus on what you are doing you will make it out alive. Until next week keep surviving.
