Defense with the BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is set in a world where zombies have taken over and people live in small spots all over the world. It was a weekly broadcast of news from around the globe and a tip to help survival, but now I have been bitten.)

I've been camped out in some farm house in South Dakota for the past few days. There have been a lot of cars rolling by on these roads and a lot have had the shoot first, ask questions later look to them so I had to avoid them for fear of them thinking I'm a threat. I was damn lucky to have found this place- somewhat hidden and secure from the road while I plan on how to get through this area.

My original thoughts about how this journey was going to go down are slowly becoming less and less the same as what is actually happening. I have a feeling this trip to the northeast is going to take a lot longer than I thought.

So far I haven’t come across any survivor groups that look to be friendly or a good place to announce my presence to. Most groups I come across look like bandits or folks that won’t care what I am and kill me for my stuff. I've found signs of other survivors that they have hit along the road and a few buildings as well in a small town a few miles back from here.

There are a lot of roadblocks around these parts that the bandits are using to trap weary travelers, so be warned and on the lookout for them. A good number of these roadblocks are located near bridges as it provides a narrow approach and not a lot of room to maneuver. If you have maps or hear running water scout out the bridges from afar to make sure there aren’t any barricades or signs of a trap before heading any closer and crossing.

On the vaccine/cure front I haven’t made much headway on getting any closer as to how to adjust it to work completely. While observing some zombies, before I got holed up here, I found it odd how they were just standing in one spot. Not really moving, but moaning, searching about and just standing there. It makes me wonder do zombies just stop on the spot when nothing draws their attention and for how long do they do that?

I might have to find more zombies in an area with no humans around at all to observe them without interference to see this behavior more. That's all I have to report this week, until next week keep surviving.
